We have had an amazing experience with blind hikers in the Pyrenees

After being working with them along the year, we offered them the opportunity of going a step further, breaking their daily walls, by trying to achieve the summit of a 3.000 m. altitude mountain in the Pyrenees range.

Starting close by Cauterets in France, and staying for the night at the refuge of Oulettes de Gaube with other hikers, a group of 7 blind participants with different level of blindness, 2 relatives and 2 guides from BASQUELANDS WAY; Javier Lacha & Alfonso Nuñez have tried to get all the way up to the top of mountain Petit Vignemale.

As guides in this beautiful attempt, we have tried to show a new sensitive world full of aromas, sounds and textures to our special participants, while discovering something far away in their minds, but finally much closer in reality than what they expected.

The result has been wonderful and these are the words of those who were part of this experience:

“I have to say that my hair stands on as I see these pictures now at home with no pressure. The experience has been something I would never imagine could make, but with your incalculable help, we could make our dreams come true going so high. I only have grateful words for the whole group but mainly for Javi & Alfonso and their great effort. Live will put you barriers but I put the limits, that’s why you are not what you achieve but overcome. The only impossible thing is what you do not really try”

“Thanks a lot for giving us the opportunity of achieving so difficult challenges that with you become easier.”

“Big thanks Alfonso, it has been an amazing experience. Thanks a lot for helping me making it real.”

Itsu talde batekin erronka oso ederra izan dugu Piriniotan.

Urte osoan zehar beraiekin lanean jardun ostean, Piriniotako 3.000 metroko gailur batera igotzea proposatu genien, ohiko oztopoak gaindituz eta estimuluz beterik giro berri bat sentiaraziz.

Frantziako Cauterets ondotik abiatu ginen ostiralean eta gaua Oulettes de Gaube aterpetxean pasa ondoren, maila ezberdinetako 7 itsuk, bi sendik  eta mendiko gida Alfonso Nuñez eta Javier Lachak Petit Vignemal mendiak 3.045m-ra duen gailurra zapaltzen saiatu ginen.

BASQUELANDS WAYeko gidek erronka hau ilusio handiarekin bizi dugu, emozio, zentzumen eta usain ezberdin handiko ingurune bat ezagutarazten eta transmititzen saiatu gatzaizkie eta maiz urruti sentitzen den hori pentsatua baino hurbilago dagoela sentiarazten.

Emaitza zoragarria izan da eta hauexek dira parte-hartzaileen hitzak:

“Argazki hauek ikustean oilo-ipurdia jartzen zait, orain etxean gaudela inongo presiorik gabe. Inoiz lortzea pentsatuko ez nuen esprientzia izan da honako hau niretzat, baina zuen laguntzarekin, ordain ezina benetan, horren altu igotzeko ametsa lortu dugu. Beraz, laudorio hitzak besterik ez ditut talde guztiarentzat eta batik bat Javi eta Alfonsorentzat zeren zuen laguntzik gabe lortu duguna lortzea ezinezko zitzaigun. Bizitzak oztopoak jarriko dizkizu baina mugak nik jartzen ditut, horregatik ez zara lortzen duzuna gainditzen duzuna baizik, ezinezkoa den gauza bakarra saiatzen ez zarena da.”

“Mila esker horren erronka zailak lortzen laguntzeagatik, zuen ondoan oso erraz bihurtu zaizkigu.”  ”

“Mila esker Alfonso esperientzia zoragarria izan da. Esker mila lortzen laguntzeagatik”.
